Issue 02, Volume 01

EDITOR'S NOTE

Dear Movies,

Welcome to the first issue of Double Exposure, a quarterly journal all about you produced by undergraduates at Columbia University.

Double Exposure is the product of our passion for you. As humble but critical admirers, we're aiming to provide a forum for the scholarly and accessible discussion of your images and stories. We'll write about you in our journal, show you and debate you at screenings and events around campus, and ponder what you mean to us — and what that pondering means to us.

We know your mind is in a lot of different places right now (rumor is you're having something of an identity crisis), but it would be an honor if you sat down and looked over our journal. This first issue contains a wide range of articles from engaged, curious writers — everything from an in-depth comparison of your recent art house epics Melancholia and The Tree of Life, to a plea for a translation of the animated work of Czech puppeteer Jiri Trnka, to an interview with Hollywood director D.J. Caruso (Eagle EyeDisturbia), and much more.

If your other critics and defenders want to get involved with Double Exposure, or if they have any other questions, comments, or suggestions, our email is doubleexposurejournal@gmail.com. We'd be happy to hear from them.

If there's nothing else to say, I guess we'll see you tomorrow, 2:35 p.m. at 6th Ave. and 3rd St.? And the day after tomorrow, 9:10 p.m. at Houston and Varick? Maybe the day after, here on our computer? And after, and after…mind if we bring some friends?

Keep in touch,

Double Exposure
